I am a licensed marriage, family, and child therapist, and maintain a private practice serving San Diego.
My 30 years as a therapist have provided me with a wealth of experience, and I have had the pleasure of working with a very diverse clientele. I truly love my work.
A typical day might include a couple's session, fingerpainting with an anxious child, helping an indivual cope with a difficult passage in life, or supporting a distressed teen. Some of the issues I have experience with include depression, marital or parent- child relationship conflicts, life transitions such as college, divorce, or grief, workplace stress, infertility and adoption, women's issues, mood disorders, and anxiety in children and adults.
I integrate a wide variety of treatment approaches which I carefully tailor to meet the unique needs of each person. I am interpersonal, supportive, and provide practical feedback to help clients reach the goals they have set for themselves. My husband (a talented therapist) maintains that excellence in therapists is more a matter of personhood than of technique. In my own personhood, you may expect to encounter compassion, wisdom, and playfulness in our time together.
In addition to private practice, I have worked in hospital, group home, and residential treatment settings. I was a Program Director and Therapist at San Diego Center For Children, and directed treatment and social work staff at Triple L Group Homes, and Rancho Park Hospital and Residential Treatment Center. I have also worked at the Women's Resource Center, and been a Program Director at a women's health clinic.
I attended San Diego State University, and earned a B.S. in Psychology. I obtained my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from USIU in 1983, and was licensed as a marriage and family therapist in 1985.
I am also a parent. This too has formed me as a person and as a professional, and has taught me to fully appreciate the hard work involved.
